More on info for wills

As I continue to work on updating our will, it has become interesting to me as to what to do with our "stuff."

Who to leave what to and who will even want it?

Also, since we do not have any children, who do we leave our vast amount of wealth to?

Ha! That is a laugh!

And probably the biggest question, is who do we trust to take care of our estate and also be the one to make decisions for us when we are either dying or after we have died.

Actually that one was easy for us to decide on - and that is my brother in law and love, Bob Cummings.

He and my sister Martha are by far the most sensible ones in my family!

It does pose some interesting questions.

One of the most intriguing for me is there is a place in your will that you can write a letter to family and friends stating your beliefs and what you stood for basically.

I find that fascinating because if you have to write something like that down, doesn't that mean that your life and what you believed in was not apparent to others?

Or maybe that is just for you to be able to have the last say.

It is my hope that our lives will have been so transparent that those people that knew and loved us will have known what we believed in by the way we lived out our lives.

Just some things I was thinking about today.

Seat belts - room to live

A couple of weeks ago, I got a speeding ticket and also a ticket for not wearing my seat belt, but instead of paying a fine, I had to go to a class.

At first I was annoyed that I could not just pay the fine, but I went anyway last night.

I am so glad I did!

I was amazed at the number of traffic accidents that happen every day and those especially fatal ones that could be avoided if the person had only been wearing their seat belt.

I have to admit that I have not done very good in that department or in watching my speed.

I realized that I could have been in an accident and killed, had God not spared me!

All the way home I thanked God for protecting me all these years, and I vowed to be more careful and cautious when driving.

Isn't it amazing to think of all the things we do not even know of that God has protected us from?

Especially ourselves!

I thank God today that He has let me live this long and I hope and pray that He will let me live longer so I can show Him how much I love him and this live He has blessed me with!

Wills, marriage, heaven!

I have been working on updating our will - boy howdy that sure gives you lots to think about!

Who to leave things to, who you want to count on to carry out your wishes, what you want done with your body when you are through with it!

And then the biggie - wonder when my time will come?

When will Bruce's?

Selfishly, I hope we go together so neither one of us will have to go through that kind of pain and grief living without the other.

Bruce and I will celebrate 28 years of marriage next month.

How many of those years have I taken for granted?

How many more years will I have with him - the only man I have ever loved or wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

But then the upside of it all is - the best news of all!

I get to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus - and I will get to be with Bruce again there as well!

So, when you look at it that way, it is all good!

New Year, New Challenges

It looks like I have not been on here for a long time, so I decided to try it again!

With this new year, there come new challenges - for all of us I imagine.

One of mine is to change my thinking so that I can be more positive and channel my thoughts so I can be more productive with my time and energy.

I recently took a on-line test for ADD and it looks like I am one of the many who probably have it and have had for a long time.

Actually this is sort of refreshing for me because it answers some questions I have had about myself and personality.

Now I see that I am not really lazy and unproductive and a procrastinator but it actually puts things into perspective.

So that gives me hope that I really can change!

So I am looking forward to the new year and changes I hope to be able to make within myself.

Trip to Washington, D.C and Maryland

We just got back from a trip to Maryland for my nephew's graduation and all my family was there. It was great to get to visit with all of them and to get the chance to know my nephew better, along with his girlfriend and his friends that he will be sharing a house with. He is a great young man and we are looking forward to what his future will hold for him. While we were there, we got to see a few of the sights - My favorite memorial is the Lincoln Memorial and it is so impressive to see it up close! We also saw the Jefferson Memorial and the FDR Memorial. We then went to the National Archives where the Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution are held - it is a truly impressivie and inspiring thing to see and you can feel the history behind each one! My very favorite place to go is the Botanical Gardens where there are hundreds of all kinds of flowers, especially orchids! I had a blast in there taking pictures! My mother Nell went with us and the picture here is her at the Botanical Gardens - she love flowers too!

Starting a new venture here!

This is my 1st experience with blogs and was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading what I have to say - but at least I can journal my thoughts here and thought I would try it out!

Just finished reading Beth Moore's book, So Long Insecurity as a bible study I do with some other ladies on Tuesdays in Aztec. It is a great book and I learned so much about myself and how insecurities have so many of us enslaved to them and it is time we took back our dignity and become and start acting like the victorious children of the King that He intended for us to be!

One question she asks at the end of the book is this: What is your passion? What matters to you? As you draw your last breath, what do you want your life to have been about? It has me thinking and I want to truly search out my heart and seek God to see what He wants me to do.

How about you??
